Summer School Breaks starting from £110 for 4 nights
(See San Rafael 29th July below)

There's no denying that money is tight this year, and families are taking time to consider how to get the most value from the investment they make on a summer holiday. So here's just a little reminder that a holiday afloat has so much to offer, over and above the week away by the sea.

Hiring a boat can serve as both accommodation and transportation, potentially saving money on hotels and travel costs. We have options to suit various budgets, from basic boats to more luxurious cruisers, allowing families to choose according to their financial limits.

You can explore at your own pace, stop wherever you like, and tailor your route to your interests. This flexibility is ideal during school holidays, as it caters to the varying energy levels and preferences of children.

Finally, don't discount the value of family bonding. Working together to navigate, moor the boat, and plan daily activities, promotes togetherness and helps create lasting memories.

There's still a good choice of availability at all price points. Below are just a few examples with an indication of prices for different durations and boat sizes. You can check other dates and durations by using the holiday availability box a little further down the page.

Norfolk Broads Towns and Villages - Sutton Staithe

Sutton Staithe moorings

Sutton Staithe lies at the end of a branch off the River Ant. As you leave Barton Broad, heading away from Ludham Bridge, you will see signposts directing you to Stalham and Sutton. The Sutton turn branches off to the right. You will cruise over Sutton Broad before reaching the moorings at the staithe, located at the far end of the broad. There is room for around 20 to 24 boats depending on their size. Most are situated in a narrow dyke that leads up to the Sutton Staithe Hotel green. The moorings on the green are preferred as they are more open and water hoses are to hand. However, Sutton staithe is very popular and you should make your arrival around mid-morning or mid-afternoon to have the best chance of getting moored, especially on Friday afternoons when a great number of Richardsons craft will overnight ready to return their boats the next morning. (Richardsons at Stalham is only a 30 to 40 minutes cruise from here) There is ample room to turn your boat at the far end of the "green" moorings, just in front of Sutton Staithe boatyard.

Eating and Drinking: The Sutton Staithe Hotel is the only establishment within reasonable walking distance of the moorings

Local Attractions: This is a delightful location, either nestled under the trees in the narrow dyke or in the open space of the green moorings. You will see many boats come and go as the moorings are popular so just sit back and watch the world go by. The small town of Stalham, with its Tesco supermarket, pubs, restaurants, and many small shops, is a 20 to 30-minute walk away.

Other Services: The village centre with a post office and garden centre is around 20 minutes walk away. TIP. The hotel is a popular stop-off point for Norfolk Broads boat hirers wanting to eat in their restaurant. We recommend you book a table and be at your moorings by early afternoon.
